Jay Cina ✰

"For me it has always been important that the gamers grow together with Link, that there is a strong relationship between the one who holds the controller and the person who is on the screen." - Shigeru Miyamoto

About me

Hey there! I'm Jay, a game developer enthusiast passionate about making story-driven games. In my free time, I draw and design characters, make music, and create games in Unity and Godot <3Video games have impacted my life ever since the first day I sat on the couch and watched my dad play Gamecube. I hope to create these impactful memories for others to experience. If you're also interested in game development, feel free to reach out via my Discord (koif1shi) or email. I love meeting other passionate developers! For updates on my art and games, check out my BlueSky, itch.io, or LinkedIn.For work interest, here is my resume.

Games

Below are some awesome projects I am a part of.I have had the lovely opportunity to major in Computer Science and Game Development in college and work with other talented developers.

King Scribble

February 2025 - Current : Unity

Team: Evan McRae, Jay Cina, Brian Lawser, Ginger Sealy, Colby Frashure, Anthony Bonilla Duron, Steven Nguyen, Justin Gaylord, Rowan Barr, Halle Onyeka, Sormeh Jaribion, & Scott Serafin

"You are King Scribble, the benevolent, beloved ruler of the Doodle Kingdom. One tragic day, a twister whisks you away, and now you must traverse tricky terrain through the power of drawing in order to make it back home."

King Scribble is a game that started its development in my junior/senior level game development college course. We are a team of 3 programmers and 5 artists who worked to provide a finished Beta version of a doodly puzzle platformer game in one semester.Being one of the lead programmers of King Scribble with artistic experience, my job is to ensure that art assets from our artists translate well into the programming environment. I am in charge of programming for the erasing mechanic, some UI elements, and the boss fight AI. I have experience with communication and deadlines to maintain a smooth game development process. King Scribble's Beta version is available on itch.io.

Petal Paint ❀

March 2025 - Current : Godot

"Become a painter who explores nature, collecting colorful materials to craft handmade paint. With an easel and a brush, paint your mind’s eye."

Petal Paint is my personal project made for artists and people who aspire to be artists! Inspired by casual games like Animal Crossing New Horizons and Sky Children of the Light, it is meant to give the player a relaxing experience. It features a hand-drawn art style with homemade acoustical music.During Petal Paint's development, I am designing interactive GUI art and layouts, dabbling with shader code, and understanding the workflow of developing a solo game. I am creating an art program that utilizes gradients and blending techniques to allow for a unique painting experience. Colorblind filters will be available, and Petal Paint's Beta version will be released late 2025 with translations for English, Spanish, and German.

Spells & Potions

March 2025 : Card Game

Team: Jay Cina, Karma Tobden, Izra Samson

"A competitive card game about battling monsters and crafting spells and potions. Gather the correct card combinations to cast damaging spells and craft potions to challenge your fellow wizards. With many bosses, battle them all until they fall. Who will be the most worthy wizard?

Spells & Potions was made during a two-week board game designing event focused on creating a game prototype and playtesting. I learned the importance of balancing game mechanics and playtesting as much as possible! Being a small project with 3 student developers, Spells & Potions does not have a release date envisioned~

Digital Art

My artistic focus is on character design and digital painting. I am also diving into learning how to design GUI elements for games!

Thank you for taking a moment to view my passion!Again, feel free to email me or reach out on Discord (koif1shi) with any questions or if you would like to talk about game dev endeavors.
